Father Matthew Pearson was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Madison in June of 2022.
He grew up in Cambria, a small factory town located about halfway between Portage and Columbus. During high school, Fr. Matthew stayed active playing sports and spent summers working at a golf course near his grandparents’ house in the suburbs of Chicago. After high school, he attended Northern Illinois University where he studied Communications and Video Production for two years.
In 2010, he had a rediscovery of his Catholic faith and began RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, as he never received the Sacrament of Confirmation during high school. After being confirmed in 2011, he spent several years working and practicing the faith. In 2016, Fr. Matthew entered the seminary and was sent to St. Andrew’s College Seminary on the campus of Seton Hall University where he graduated with a degree in Philosophical Theology in 2018. He was subsequently sent to the North American College in Rome where he studied for several years. In June of 2021, he received his Baccalaureate degree in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. Currently, Fr. Matthew is pursuing his licentiate in Dogmatic Theology at the University of St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, Illinois.
